Navy SEALS in Action

From the Special Ops series, this colorful book introduces the U.S. Navy SEALS, a special-operations force officially created in 1962, though at that time similar U.S. Navy forces had been active for about 20 years. Yomtov touches on the history of the SEALS, their challenging training program, their emphasis on saving lives, and aspects of their operations in the sea, in the air, and on land—the three environments that inspired the SEAL acronym. Children intrigued by these operatives will find this a visually dynamic presentation, full of interesting, mostly color photos that show scenes from history, such as a wet-suited “frogman” from World War II, as well as those of SEALS in action in contemporary Iraq and elsewhere.
